Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – Movie Review
Director :- Zoya Akhtar
Cinematography :- Carlos Catalan
Toh Zinda ho tum??? Ask yourself. Everyone is busy with their lives. Work pressure, hectic life and emotional roller coasters rides everyday. Everyone needs a break. So do Kabir (Abhay deol) owner of a construction company, Arjun (Hrithik Roshan) a successful stock broker and Imran (Farhan Akhtar) a copywritter working with an Ad Agency, the three musketeers as they are called since their school and college days. Kabir proposes Natasha (Kalki koechlin) and the marriage preparation takes on full speed. Kabir now plans a Bachelor trip with his old buddies to the beautiful picturesque country of Spain. The three amigos set off for a road trip to discover this wonderful country and also to perform the death defying adventure sport decided by each of them. Their journey takes you to various moods of life and gives u an experience which is very difficult to capture on camera. Also they meet various interesting people in their way who somehow change their life forever. Laila (Katrina Kaif) a diving instructor is one such person who creates a great impact in Arjun’s life.
The 1st half is very low on the story and performance, but the gap is filled by the amazing beauty of Spain and the moments captured while the trio performs Scuba diving and Sky diving. The cinematography is excellent and very much successful in capturing the exquisite landscape and oceans of Spain. The 2nd half however, takes a pace and delivers some amazing work of dialogues and performances by the three amigos. The bull fighting scene in the last is worth a watch. The music adds value to the story and the songs are perfectly placed. Pranks played by Imran and Kabir on Arjun are funny at times and reminds you of your lost friends in college. Poetries by Imran used at various scenes are an excellent piece of writing by Javed Akhtar . A very deep meaning attached to each of them. The movie comes with a very strong message “ live your life to the fullest because it’s just today , you never know about tomorrow”
The movie fails to hold its audience at various stages. The scenes and situations become monotonous and are been dragged. Performance by Hrithik Roshan is good but it could have been better. Abhay Deol is good in playing Kabir who is very confused but tries to go with the flow of life. Farhan Akhtar delivers a very good performance and is good with the humor but bad with the emotional scenes. Katrina and kalki has very less to do in the movie and play a very fair role.
Dhinchak Mumbai will rate it 3 out of 5 stars. It’s a onetime watch movie but you will love it. Especially all the adventure sports scene and the song ‘Khaboon ke parindey’ and its picturisation which is something you will never see. Overall do go for this movie to see the best moments of life ever captured on camera because Zindagi na milegi dobara!!!
