Nothing like a cuppa Chai

Writing this article was indeed very different from the rest.

Let me first give you a gist of the event:

I happened to be present at the launch of The Chai Community @The Bandra Base on the 1st day of September. The Chai Community seeks to provide a single stage for a variety of art forms like music, dance, films, visual art, photography, food and anything and everything that you would call art.

An initiative by Dream Makers Entertainment to create a distinct community of people interested in various art forms, this event called for some much needed bonding over a cuppa ‘CHAI’

Although I was a complete newbee to an event like this, music welcomed me with open arms. What surprised me more was the story behind the music and the musician which hamari apni Jiya Re (Jab Tak Hai Jaan) singer: Neeti Mohan helped me discover. Yaad hai ‘Chandu Ke Chacha Ne’?? from Aasma. Neeti was a member of that band!

Now, like you guys I too had a question … Boss, Aasma invisible kyu hogaya? The audience was impatient to know as Neeti confirmed that Aasma is still there & recently celebrated their 10th anniversary!!

It was great to hear stories from Neeti’s life and her eventual passage into music. She also mentioned her new found passion for composing. This Dilli ki kuddi, has now made Mumbai her own and proudly accepts that the city has inspired her to pursue her career in music. How amazing is that!

To add a little more fun to the event, Neeti composed a song aptly termed ‘Chai’.  Through the song she conveys…  Chai( and not beer) is the connecting drink in Mumbai.

This session with her was really fun-tastic…She was just adorable when she sang chai chai chai

What a start to the month. With performances by Titanium, a duo of students from Dhirubhai Ambani International School and singer-songwriter Ayush Shrestha and drummer Vivaan Kapoor , as well as a drum circle led by percussionist Anand Bhagat, the evening only made you want more.

We will be bringing you lots more from The Chai Community, till then we wish Shreya and Dream Makers Entertainment some dhinchak success.

Ab ek cutting chai ho jaye?
