N.K. College – Freshers party and ‘Montage’ inauguration

The BMM department of NK college(Malad) held it’s fresher’s party for the year 2012-2013 welcoming the First year students in the department with open arms. The celebration was a massive hit  and such a welcome warmed the hearts of all the new students in the department of mass media. It not only made the first year students feel welcomed into the college but also connected them remarkably with their seniors and teachers.

Students flooded in the Auditorium of the college with the girls clad in traditional south Indian sarees and the boys in mundu vaishti lungi to be welcomed by a tikka of sandalwood applied on their temple as a gesture of heartfelt welcome into the department honoring the South Indian theme of the party. The event had a lot of surprises packed in a night but the evening began with a beautiful Malayalam prayer song sung by Prof. Nelson Daniel stole the show and the hearts of everyone present there.

The Annual festival of the Mass media department – Montage had it’s symbolic inauguration done by the co-coordinator of BMM Prof. Preethi Rao and the Vice-principle of the self-finance section Prof. Mona and a select few students who are a integral part of the college. Many performances followed this tuneful start of which was an ingenious quiz contest which was not only hilarious but also tested the information of students about their own college. Non teaching staff was also honored for their help and support to the teachers and students day in and day out and the talent of 10 chosen FYBMM students was tested by the contest for the selection of Mr. and Ms. fresher. The night which had such a zealous beginning ended with a fun filled time sent by students dancing with their friends, teachers and seniors.

Where at the start of the event the First years had come with the feeling of being new to this whole department, by the time the party came to an end it was seen that everyone felt one and an integral part of BMM department, the barriers between the new students and the experienced seniors was dissolved in the fun filled night which enthralled and brought in the hunger for more at the same time. It is said that a good start signifies a great end but for now it is not the end that matters – it is the journey in between which is yet to unravel a lot of surprises to be enjoyed and challenges to be overcome in the following three years of these Freshers, and it will surely be a good journey when they are accompanied by such devoted and helpful teachers and seniors.
