Maryam Zakaria’s grand entry into bollywood with Grand Masti

The ‘aa re pritam pyaare’, ‘dil mera muft ka’ and “naagin dance’ girl is back with a bang. Aur is baar woh Grrrrrand Masti karne aayi hai.

A model, dancer, choreographer and now an actress… Maryam Zakaria. Born and brought up in Sweden, Maryam always wanted to become an actress and today she feels she has finally achieved her goal. She is someone who has come in the industry to stay here and make her own mark. Guys, you’ll better watch out, because there is a new hottie in town.


Talking about her upcoming movie Grand Mast in which she is starred opposite Aftab Shivdasani, she says, “I am extremely lucky to get a chance to work with great actors and also such a great director. We used to have a lot of fun on the sets. All the other actors were very supportive, though they sometimes pulled my leg. But it was fun”


Before coming to India, Maryam had her own dance school in Sweden, where she taught the Swedish people Indian latkas and jhatkas. To this she said,” Yes I have my own dance school in Sweden and people there love to learn bollywood dance. The school there is still running and whenever I got there, I take workshops and people there love this dance style”.


Starting her career as a model, she also worked in various ads such as lays, set wet and coke. She stared her acting career with a few south Indian films. After a lot of struggle and auditions she got into dancing and item numbers in bollywood. She has worked with some legends of bollywood like Saroj Khan and Prabhu Deva. She said,” I feel blessed to have worked with such great people. Sarojji is like my second mom. She is just so amazing and with Prabhi sir a got to learn even more. I can be said that ‘aa re pritam pyaare’ is one of the most difficult dance numbers I have ever performed. So all in all it was a great experience and I got to learn so much from them”.


Maryam being Iranian-Swedish is also working very hard on her Hindi. She says,” On the sets of Grand Masti I had a Hindi tutor and I used to rehearse my dialogues till I get them perfect and also whenever I am free I have a Hindi tutor who comes and teaches me”. She says Hindi is a very beautiful language she would love to be fluent in it and Hindi won’t’ be a problem for her bollywood career.


Talking about her future plans she said,” I have no plans for future as of now but I am waiting for the release of Grand Masti.
