Grand Masti @ Rcity Mall
When I go to a mall and see a movie’s music release going on, I never stop to watch the entire event. It just never really appealed to me. However, this time would be different as I was told that I had to review the music release for the movie ‘Grand Masti’, which was happening at Rcity Mall in Ghatkopar. Armed with my notepad and camera, I set out at 5.30 p.m. to Rcity. Amey, being my partner in crime, came along with his camera too. Thank God for that, because akele jaane pakta hai boss.
When we reached the mall, the stage and the equipment were already set up and in place. The event started at 6.15, with the compere greeting the crowd in the mall. He was a wee bit over-enthusiastic, but all in all he did a good job. Ab yeh toh obvious hai ki hamare Bollywood ke sitaare ko thayyar hone mein time lagti hai…kaaaaafi time! So in the meantime, to keep the audience entertained, the compere went around the crowd quizzing them on questions related to ‘Grand Masti’. The folks who got the answer right were given ‘Grand Masti’ merchandise. They also got a few willing girls and boys to come up and dance on stage, and another guy to sing a song.
After all this, RJ Saleem took over and finally introduced the stars of ‘Grand Masti’ to the stage. The star cast of the movie includes: Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, Karishma Tanna, Bruna Abdullah, Sonali Kulkarni, Kainat Arora, Maryam Zakaria, and Manjari Fadnis. Each actor described their character in the movie. Riteish said a few lines in Marathi, which drew a lot of hoots and whistles from the crowd.
Getting to the music. The movie’s OST ‘grand masti’, sung by Sanjeev Rathod, Darshan Rathod and Payal Dev is extremely peppy and lively. I caught myself humming the tune even hours after I got back home. The lyrics of the song, just like the dialogues in the movie, have a lot of naughty double entendres. They were also going to play ‘zulmi zulmi’, which is sung by Mika Singh, but unfortunately there was some technical problem and we didn’t get to hear that track.
I wasn’t so keen on watching ‘Grand Masti’ but it is surprising how a good music release made me change my mind. Yeh movie doston ke saath definitely dekhne jaunga
