Gangs of Wasseypur – Music Launch

“Yesss… finally (hopefully) we will see some meaningful cinema”, ya stuff like this is pretty synonymous with Anurag Kashyap’ s films, and now his new movie Gangs of Wasseypur has already made people sit up and take notice. But ya, after all this masala-mad-dhad nonsense crappy movies we seriously need some movie that makes sense.

Even the music launch of Kashyaps hatke movie was very hatke, it was literally music on wheels, and the Gang of Wasseypur hopped on the open jeep vans and roamed the streets of Bandra with the sound track blasting on the street, Well not a very good move since today is the World Environment day, but like a true Mumbaikar “Who really cares”.

Kashyap has been receiving accolades for Gangs of Wasseypur even before the film’s release. Making its debut at the Cannes International Film Festival this year, Gangs of Wasseypur is garnering positive reports. When we asked him how was it during the international festival Kashyap said that everyone was quite intrigued by the film and the star of the show was the “Ghamchas”, which was very famous with the international audience. For those who don’t know what a ghamcha is- what we call a stroll village people call a ghamcha.

A great deal has been spoken about the length of the film which is 5 hrs. long and Anurag Kashyap has ensured that the album is equally lengthy which has 15 songs and that’s just the album part 1, yes since it’s a 5hr movie Kashyap has divided the movie into 2 parts each 2 n ½ movie.

But all the songs are so delightful, and Sneha Khanwalkar’s music and Varun Grover’s lyrics make this album an instant hit!  The album has a great combination of instruments, tune and music. All the songs have a bhojpuri feel to them, quite like the film.

The album has a very interesting, actually weird song called Hunter which fuses Hindi and English lyrics infused with Bhojpuri ishstyle background music. Kashyap also admitted that Hunter is also his most favourite song is the album. This song has been gaining a lot of popularity, vo kya hai na,ajkal hatke gano ka hi market hai.

Well, we just have to wait and see how this 5hr film does in India can us Indians handle something different or such things only the international audience can handle??? Let’s see iss desh me A-wali desi films kaise accept hoti hai????
